India-Pakistan Live: Pakistan Launches Strikes in Response to Indian Missile Attacks
Tensions have sharply escalated between India and Pakistan after Islamabad announced the launch of a military operation targeting Indian military installations. The campaign, dubbed Operation "Bunyan Marsoos", comes in retaliation for Indian airstrikes earlier this week that targeted what New Delhi described as "terrorist camps" in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s military, multiple Indian military sites were struck in the early hours of Saturday. The response follows the targeting of three Pakistani airbases by Indian “air-to-surface missiles” on Wednesday.
In the wake of the offensive, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority announced the closure of national airspace from 3:15am local time (22:15 GMT) until noon (07:00 GMT), citing security concerns.
On the Indian side, air raid sirens were reported in several areas across Indian-administered Kashmir and Punjab state. The Indian military reported drone activity in at least 26 locations, with active efforts underway to intercept them.
A drone strike in the Indian city of Ferozepur in Punjab state injured three people, Indian authorities confirmed.
So far, the ongoing exchange has claimed at least 50 lives, with 33 fatalities reported in Pakistan alone. The figure includes both military personnel and civilians, though details remain limited amid the evolving situation.
The latest flare-up marks one of the most serious escalations in recent years between the nuclear-armed neighbours and has triggered growing international concern.
