Pakistan Warns of ‘Full Spectrum’ Response to Potential Indian Aggression
Pakistan will respond with the “full spectrum of power,” including its nuclear capabilities, if faced with any Indian military strike or interference with its vital water resources, Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Jamali warned during an interview with Russian broadcaster RT on Saturday.
Jamali stated that Islamabad had received intelligence suggesting India was planning imminent military action. “There are leaked documents suggesting plans to strike certain areas of Pakistan,” he said, describing the threat as serious and imminent.
The ambassador’s remarks come amid rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors following a deadly April 22 attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India has blamed Pakistan for the incident in Baisaran Valley, where several civilians were killed, alleging the involvement of Pakistani nationals and militant groups.
Pakistan has firmly denied the accusations and has called for an international investigation, suggesting that neutral countries like China and Russia take part in verifying the claims. “We expect neutral and credible inquiries into the incident,” said Jamali.
The ambassador also criticized India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty—a decades-old agreement that governs the use of cross-border rivers. He warned that “any attempt to usurp or divert water would constitute an act of war and would be met with full force.”
Despite the escalating rhetoric, Jamali emphasized the need for restraint given both nations’ nuclear capabilities. “There is all the more need to deescalate the tensions,” he said.
In response to the Kashmir attack, India expelled Pakistani diplomats, halted visa services, and sealed its land border. Pakistan retaliated with similar measures, and New Delhi has since announced economic steps aimed at further downgrading bilateral relations.
As tensions rise, international observers are calling for both sides to exercise caution to prevent further escalation.
